ABBEY ROAD | 60s DRUMMER is an enhanced version of the original ABBEY ROAD | 60s DRUMS, updated to integrate developments in KONTAKT. All the new ABBEY ROAD DRUMMER instruments include the advanced Mixer Section and Groove Library feature from STUDIO DRUMMER.
RECORDED AT ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS
All drums were recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, UK, using period equipment and recording techniques.
An iconic symbol of the music industry since 1931, Abbey Road has been the location of countless landmark recordings by artists such as The Beatles, U2, Kate Bush, Oasis, Kanye West and Radiohead, to name just a few.
Abbey Road has pioneered many studio techniques and technologies, and is widely recognized as one of the most advanced recording, mixing and post-production complexes in the world.
THE DRUMS
The heart of ABBEY ROAD | 60s DRUMS consists of two highly sought-after 60s drum kits: A Gretsch Round Badge White Marine Pearl kit (Jasper Shell) from the early 60s and a Ludwig Hollywood kit from 1967. Each kit provides a choice of two 60s snares, and all cymbals used are genuine 60s originals, including a rivet cymbal dating from 1963.
The drums were recorded in up to 30 different velocity layers, with up to six alternative hits (round robins) for each drum. Find out more about the drums and recording equipment.
NEW: THE MIXER SECTION
Create the perfect drum submix completely within the instrument! All ABBEY ROAD DRUMMER instruments feature a dedicated Mixer Section and a range of high-quality studio effects, including tape saturation, convolution reverb and three big-league effects: a top-quality studio EQ, a high-end studio compressor and the awe-inspiring TRANSIENT MASTER.
And if time is tight, Mixer and Effects Presets provide instant pro sound with precision mic levels, the perfect blend of close and room mics, and just the right effects to set it all off.
NEW: COMPREHENSIVE GROOVE LIBRARY
The right drum sound is only part of the equation. All of the updated ABBEY ROAD DRUMMER instruments provide a new Groove Library, full of beats and fills to match the sound of the drums. These MIDI patterns were played live by professional drummers – find the beat that suits the track you’re working on, choose fills and variations to match, then drag and drop into your host sequencer.
