He entered the musical scene in 1995 at age sixteen. His brother’s Roland Groovebox 303 caught his attention. He was astounded when he first experienced the amount of creativity electronic music unleashed. Time and time again, Sander would borrow his brother’s Groovebox and his nephew’s vinyl records, playing the life out of them. A producer at heart, he started DJing to create exposure for his productions.
He also runs the DOORN Records imprint, unleashing a steady stream of big names and hot new talents alike. In 2017, he launched his alias Purple Haze, dedicated to a “sharper, darker, rougher” sound. The debut Purple Haze album, SPECTRVM is a riot of dark trance and tough techno with some standout vocals to boot. Rather than taking the shine away from his usual SvD sounds, the new project has created a positive, synergized feedback loop in his studio, bringing a yin to his existing yang.
With three full-length albums, numerous hit singles, remixes of the world’s biggest artists, sold-out gigs in all major venues and festivals worldwide, a successful record label, and a weekly radio show named Identity, Sander van Doorn continues his musical journey into the heart of fans around the world.
