This is the first pack in a series of four we created with The Love Experiment, an NYC-based future-soul collective led by drummer, composer, and producer Charles “Blvk Samurai” Burchell. Formed in Boston, MA in 2010, the band has performed around the United States for the last six years, sharing the stage with artists such as Talib Kweli, Iman Omari, Mad Satta, Si * Se, Retro Stefson, Nesby Phips, and many more.
Recorded in a way similar to how records are tracked, we started with the basics and layered on top, session by session. The result is an organic and soulful old school sound blended with a mix of new school flavor. Leaning heavily into the ways in which soul music has evolved over the past several decades, this pack includes classic soulful keys and vocals combined with African-inspired polyrhythms, jazz bass, hip hop beats, and more.
